PolicyChat Life
Terms of Use
Effective September 21, 2026.
These terms govern your use of policychat.com, Sage, and the pre-qualification and application tools on this site (together, the "Service"), operated by PolicyChat Life ("PolicyChat", "we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
What Sage gives you: estimates, not quotes
Sage sizes coverage and estimates the rate class and monthly price you would likely be offered, using the information you give it and published carrier rate tables. Those numbers are informational estimates. They are not a quote, not an offer of coverage, and not a promise of any price. Only a carrier can quote and issue a policy, and the carrier underwrites your application and sets the final price. The price you are offered can be higher or lower than Sage's estimate, and a carrier can decline to offer coverage.
Pre-qualification is not approval
A pre-qualification from Sage is a dated summary of what you told us and the rate class and price we estimated from it. It is not an approval, a binder, or a guarantee of coverage. It expires on the date printed on it, and it becomes unreliable earlier if your health, tobacco use, build, or other facts change. We may revoke a pre-qualification at any time, and you can ask us to revoke one you saved.
Not professional advice
Content on the site and Sage's answers are general information about life insurance. They are not insurance, legal, tax, financial, or medical advice, and they do not create an agent-client relationship until a licensed PolicyChat Life agent takes up your application with you. Decisions about coverage should account for your full situation; if you need advice on tax or estate questions, talk to a qualified professional.
Who may use the Service
- You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States.
- Life insurance is regulated state by state. We can only place coverage where we, and the carrier, are licensed and the product is approved. Our current licensing is listed on the licensing page.
- You agree to give accurate, complete answers. Misstatements on an insurance application can lead a carrier to rescind a policy or deny a claim.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to apply for coverage on someone else's life without their knowledge and consent, or to impersonate anyone.
- Probe, scrape, overload, or interfere with the Service, or try to extract Sage's underlying prompts, models, or data.
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to send spam or malicious content.
- Reproduce or resell the Service or its content except as these terms allow.
We may suspend access to protect the Service or other users.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you tell Sage. You give us permission to use it to run the Service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. Do not share anything you are not entitled to share.
Our content and marks
The site, Sage, our rate tables, guides, designs, and the names PolicyChat and PolicyChat Life are ours or our licensors'. You may read and link to our pages and quote short passages with attribution. You may not copy the Service or its content wholesale, or use our names or logos to suggest we endorse you, without written permission. Carrier names on the site belong to their owners.
Third parties
When you apply with a carrier or an instant-decision partner, their application, their terms, and their privacy notice govern that step. We are not responsible for their sites or their decisions. Links to other sites are provided for convenience.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." Sage is an automated assistant and can make mistakes, including about prices, eligibility, and health classes. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits the duties we owe you under insurance law when we act as your agent on an application.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, PolicyChat Life and its people are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost coverage, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100) or the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater. Some states do not allow some of these limits; in those states they apply only as far as the law permits. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything that cannot be limited by law.
Indemnity
You agree to cover us for losses and reasonable costs that come from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the Service.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to email [email protected] and give us thirty days to try to resolve it with you. Nothing in this section takes away rights you have under the insurance laws of the state where you live or your right to complain to your state's insurance department.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms; the effective date at the top changes when we do, and continued use after that date means you accept the update. We may stop offering any part of the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law, survive termination.
